As a mechanical plans examiner, you must verify that submitted construction documents comply with the IMC and IFGC. Your role includes:
IMC 101.2 Scope: The IMC applies to the installation, alterations, repairs and replacement of mechanical systems, including equipment, appliances, fixtures, fittings and appurtenances.
IMC 110.1 Construction Documents: Construction documents, engineering calculations, diagrams and other data are submitted with each permit application, drawn to scale and of sufficient clarity to show the location, nature and extent of the work and its conformance to the code. A plans examiner expects to see:
IMC 312.1 Load Calculations: Heating and cooling system design loads for sizing shall be determined per ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 183, or by an approved equivalent computation using the IECC design parameters.
