Plumbing Plans Examiner (P3)
The plans examiner verifies that the construction documents demonstrate compliance before the permit issues. Where the inspector checks the installed work, you check the riser diagram, fixture schedule, and sizing calculations on paper. Most P3 questions are either "what must the plans show?" or "given these values, do they comply?"
A complete plumbing submittal includes:
If the documents do not demonstrate compliance, the examiner returns them with a correction letter citing the governing section. Approving incomplete documents "to keep the job moving" is the wrong answer on this exam.
Knowing these terms cold matters because the exam writes questions around the boundaries between components — a "vent stack" answer where the correct term is "stack vent" is a classic distractor.
